- For Mozart's Piano Variations, see the stage here: Little Star 12Var K. 265.
Little Star is the first stage of Piano Tiles 2. It is the only stage unlocked at the beginning. The current world record is 1695 by EK.
Background
The lyrics originated from the nineteenth century poem, "The star", by Jane Taylor, where the name "Little star" in the lyrics was used as the title.
The name of the music piece was "Ah! vous dirai-je, maman", a French folk music composed by anonymous dating from 1740. It was later popularized by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1778 by his work, "Twelve Variations on "Ah vous dirai-je, Maman".
Differences
While the melody remains the same, the accompanying music of this stage does not follow the original score by Mozart. The chords The arrangement is completely redone into a series of eighth notes to match the tiles in the game, though still loosely following the chords in the second, third, and fourth variation.
Gameplay
Within a loop, the song is played twice, with the second time in a higher octave. Between both times, a holding tap worth 5 points is present at the ending note of the first time. There are a total of 185 single tiles and 1 holding tile, adding up to worth 190 points.
Strategy
Before 3-star
Being the first stage of the game, there is almost no difficulty. Simply play through the level by tapping at the black tiles in order. When a holding tile appears (appears in a blue color with an open circle on it), hold it until it ends to be rewarded additional points. The tile per second increases with each star gained, to a moderate speed when the second star is earned. After completion for the first time, yellow tiles can be tapped to gather coins.
Post-3-star
The song gets notoriously difficult around getting the B-crown. Due to the fact that there are almost no holding tiles in between endless streams of single tiles, it requires a lot of effort to keep up the pace. Despite so, the C-crown can still be earned through persistent practice, as the tiles per second is not very fast compared to later stages of the game.
